Free shipping is one of the strongest conversion drivers in e-commerce — Baymard Institute found that 50%+ of shoppers add items specifically to qualify. But most stores hide the threshold in the cart, where the visitor only sees it after deciding what to buy. This bar surfaces "You're THIS CLOSE to FREE SHIPPING — orders over $75 ship free today only" on every page, every session, so the threshold influences product selection from the first PDP view.
The dynamic-distance phrasing ("You're X away") is harder to ignore than a static "Free shipping over $75." The "today only" framing adds urgency without lying — even if shipping is free every day, the visitor's session is the only "today" that matters to them.

Switch the copy. When cart >= threshold, the bar can flip to "🎉 Free shipping unlocked — keep adding to qualify for [next tier]" or just hide.
Does this slow down my store?
