How deep can my bundle discount go?

Two to five items, each with its full price and what one unit costs you. Add the same item twice for a multi-pack.
Display only. Your figures are read in the currency you pick — nothing is converted and no exchange rate is applied.

Enter at least two items with their full price and unit cost. The bundle floor is read off what the set costs you.

No benchmark is used: the floor, AOV and UPT figures come entirely from the items you enter. Check each item’s markup and margin first, or compare with a straight percentage discount.
The currency is a label: your figures are read in the currency you choose and nothing is converted. The worked examples further down stay in US dollars. Nothing you type is sent anywhere — there is no account, no install and no store connection.
Bundle price, AOV and units per transaction
The deepest bundle discount is the saving that brings the bundle down to your target gross margin, so three items worth 92 dollars that cost you 23 can sell as a bundle for 65.72 dollars, a 28.5 percent discount, and still keep a 65 percent margin.
No benchmark and no typical bundle uplift is used — every figure is read off the items and target you enter. To see how a flat percentage compares, the discount impact calculator works out the extra sales it needs.
The discount is the headline; AOV and UPT are the reason a bundle is worth offering at all.
- Bundle floor
- The lowest price the bundle can sell for and still keep your target gross margin. It is rounded up to the cent, so the margin never lands just under the target.
- Deepest discount
- How far the floor sits below the full price of the items bought separately. It is a ceiling on the saving, not a recommendation: anything shallower keeps more margin. The figure is rounded down to one decimal, so typing it into a discount code never undershoots your target.
- AOV
- Average order value, the revenue a typical order brings in. Here it compares the bundle order with a shopper buying one of the bundled items on its own, at the average of their prices.
- UPT
- Units per transaction, the number of items in one order. A bundle sets it by design, which is why a bundle raises basket size even when the price per item falls.
- Gross profit per order
- What the bundle order keeps after the cost of the goods, set beside what an average single item keeps. A bundle at a lower margin can still bring in more gross profit per order, and this is the figure that shows it.

Eight bundles, and how deep each discount can go
Illustrative arithmetic, not customer data. Every bundle price and discount is produced by the same function the calculator above runs.

Where the bundle floor can mislead
The comparison assumes a one-item order
The AOV lift is measured against a shopper buying one of the bundled items on its own. If your shoppers already buy two or three items per order, the real lift is smaller than shown, and the bundle may mostly discount baskets that would have happened anyway.
Gross margin is not contribution
The floor keeps your target margin after the cost of the goods only. Payment processing, packaging and shipping you absorb still come out of the order, although a single bundle order usually carries them once rather than several times.
Slow movers change the maths
Bundling a slow-selling item can be worth more than the margin suggests, because it frees cash tied up in stock. That value is real and this calculator cannot see it, so a bundle below your usual target can still be the right call.
A bundle cannibalises the full-price sale
Shoppers who would have bought every item at full price now pay the bundle price instead. The deeper the discount, the more that matters, which is another reason the floor is a limit rather than a target.
Bundle pricing questions
How do I price a product bundle?
Start from what the items cost you and the gross margin you want the bundle to keep. The calculator returns the lowest bundle price that still keeps that margin and the discount it represents against buying the items separately. Price the bundle anywhere between that floor and full price.
How much should I discount a bundle?
There is no universal figure, and this page does not publish one. The ceiling is set by your own margin: the calculator shows the deepest discount your target allows. A shallower discount keeps more margin, so the real question is the smallest saving that still reads as a reason to buy the set.
What is AOV, and why does a bundle change it?
Average order value is revenue per order. A shopper who would have bought one item now buys several in one order, so even a discounted bundle usually lifts the order value well above a single-item order. The calculator shows that lift against the average price of the items in the bundle.
What is UPT?
Units per transaction: how many items go into one order. A three-item bundle is three units in a single transaction, which spreads the fixed cost of the order, such as picking, packing and the payment fee, across more goods.
What if there is no room for a discount?
It means the items at full price already sit at or below your target margin. You can lower the target, swap in a higher-margin item such as an accessory, or sell the set at full price with a gift or free shipping as the incentive instead of a price cut.
Does this tool need my store, an account or an install?
No. It runs in the page, takes the prices and costs you type, and sends nothing about your store anywhere.
The floor is set. Now the bundle needs a moment to appear.
Cart value is a targeting condition in Nudgesmart, so a bundle offer can fire on the baskets it would lift, with average order value reported beside conversions and revenue.
