How to manage your reviews

Edit, hide or delete reviews, choose which reviews each widget shows, and make sure a hidden review comes off your store.

All your reviews live on one page. Change a review once, and every widget that shows it changes too.

TL;DR

Go to Store Widgets → Manage Reviews. Click a review to edit it. Use Hide to take a review off your store but keep it. Use Delete to remove it for good. If a widget has unpublished changes, a hidden review stays on it until you publish. Click Publish now next to that widget.

The Manage Reviews page

In Nudgesmart, open Store Widgets and click Manage Reviews.

From here you can:

  • Search reviews by name or text.
  • Filter by rating, photos, visible or hidden, confirmed as genuine, or product.
  • Add Review to type one in by hand.
  • Import Reviews from another app. See How to import reviews.
  • Export CSV to download all your reviews.

Tick several reviews to Hide, Show or Delete them at once, or to add them to a widget.

Edit a review

Click a review to open it. Change what you need, then click Save.

On the review page you can:

  • Confirm it's a genuine review from a real customer. Only genuine reviews go live as customer reviews.
  • Change the name, stars, text and date.
  • Mark it as Gifted or Verified.
  • Add up to 4 photos (JPEG, PNG or WebP). You can reorder them, remove them and add a short description to each.
  • Link it to products.
  • See Shown in, the list of widgets that show this review.

Use Hide when you might want the review back later. Use Delete when a customer asks you to remove their review, or the review is spam.

Choose which reviews each widget shows

Each testimonials widget has its own Which reviews to show settings. You can show all reviews, reviews for some products or collections, or only reviews you hand-pick. You can also set a minimum rating and show only reviews with photos. See How to show customer reviews.

A hidden review is still on my store

When you hide or delete a review, your published widgets update on their own.

There's one exception. If a widget has unpublished changes, Nudgesmart won't publish your half-finished edits for you. So that widget keeps the old reviews until you publish it.

After you hide or delete a review, check the Manage Reviews page. It lists any widgets that still need publishing. Click Publish now next to each one.

The 5,000 review limit

Each store can hold up to 5,000 reviews. Near the limit you'll see how many you have, such as "You have 4,812 of 5,000 reviews". To add more, delete reviews you no longer need.

Customer privacy

  • Imported reviews don't include customer emails. Nudgesmart only keeps the name, rating, text, date and photos.
  • Because there's no email, a customer data request from Shopify can't find a review. If a customer asks you to remove their review, search for their name on the Manage Reviews page and delete it.
  • After you uninstall Nudgesmart, your reviews and their photos are deleted along with the rest of your store's data.

Common pitfalls

  • A review won't show on any widget. Check that it's marked as genuine and isn't hidden. Then check the widget's minimum rating and Photos only settings.
  • A review shows on a widget I didn't expect. Open the review and look at Shown in. Change that widget's Which reviews to show settings.
  • I deleted a review by mistake. Deleting can't be undone. If you still have your old app's export, import it again.

Frequently asked questions

Do sample reviews go live?

Only if you choose to, and only until you have real reviews. When you publish a widget that still has sample reviews, Nudgesmart asks you to confirm first. The sample reviews then show on your store with a "Sample" tag, so shoppers can tell, and they never count toward your star rating. As soon as the widget has a real review to show, the sample reviews disappear on their own. It's fine for checking how the widget looks on your store. Replace them with real reviews before you open your store.

Can I edit a review a customer wrote?

You can fix typos, but don't change what the customer meant. Reviews should stay honest.
