How to add a WhatsApp chat button
Add a floating WhatsApp button to every page of your store so shoppers can message you in one tap.
A WhatsApp button lets shoppers ask a quick question before they buy, from the app they already use.
TL;DR
Go to Store Widgets, click Create Widget and pick the WhatsApp button. Add your WhatsApp number with the country code, choose how it looks, and click Publish. Then turn on Nudgesmart site widgets under App embeds in the theme editor. The button shows on every page.
Step 1 · Create the button
In Nudgesmart, open Store Widgets and click Create Widget. Pick the WhatsApp button.

You can have one WhatsApp button per store. If you already have one, Nudgesmart opens it instead.
Step 2 · Add your number and message
Open the Settings section and type your WhatsApp number.

- WhatsApp number. Put the country code first and use digits only, with no spaces, dashes or plus sign. For example, 14155550123.
- Pre-filled message. The text that's already typed when the chat opens, such as "Hi! I have a question about…".
- Add the page link to the message. Turn it on to tell you which page the shopper was on.
- Button text. Leave it empty to use "Chat on WhatsApp" in your store's language.
- Position, Distance from the bottom (px) and Show on (All, Mobile or Desktop).
Step 3 · Pick a style and layout
Open the Design tab. Choose a Style, then a Layout.
- Style. Seven looks: Match my theme, Minimal, Editorial, Card, Bold, Soft and Luxe.
- Layout. Round icon for a small round button, or Icon and text for a button with your text.
Step 4 · Publish and turn it on
In the Status & publishing card, click Publish. Then turn on the button in your theme.
- In Shopify, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
- Click App embeds in the left sidebar.
- Turn on Nudgesmart site widgets.
- Click Save.
You can also click Add to store in Nudgesmart, then Turn on, to open App embeds directly.
Tips
- One button for the whole store. It shows on every page, so you don't add it page by page.
- Check it on your phone. If the button sits on top of something, like a chat or cart button from another app, change Position or Distance from the bottom (px).
Common pitfalls
- The Publish button is greyed out. Add your WhatsApp number first.
- I published but don't see the button. Turn on Nudgesmart site widgets in App embeds, then click Save.
- The number isn't accepted. Use 8 to 15 digits, country code first, with no plus sign or spaces.
