How to add social media links to your store

Show links to your Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and other profiles, matched to your theme's colors or in each network's own colors.

Shoppers who aren't ready to buy today can still follow you. Social links give them an easy way to keep up with your brand.

TL;DR

Go to Store Widgets, click Create Widget and pick Social links. Tick your networks and add your username for each one. Pick a style, click Publish, then add the Nudgesmart widget block in the theme editor on your home, product, collection or other pages, and choose your links in its Widget setting.

Step 1 · Create the widget

In Nudgesmart, open Store Widgets and click Create Widget. Pick Social links.

Step 2 · Add your profiles

In the Content tab, open the Settings section under Social links. Tick each network you're on, then type your username in the field that shows for it.

You can add any of these:

  • Instagram
  • TikTok
  • Facebook
  • YouTube
  • Pinterest
  • X (Twitter)
  • Threads
  • LinkedIn (your company page)
  • Snapchat

Type your username, not a full link. If you paste a profile link or your @username, Nudgesmart keeps just the username. For LinkedIn, use the name from your company page's link, such as acme-apparel.

Links open in a new tab, so shoppers don't lose their place in your store.

Step 3 · Pick a style

Open the Design tab and choose a Style.

By default, the icons use your theme's colors so they sit quietly with the rest of your store. Snapchat is the exception: it always keeps its official yellow tile, because Snapchat's brand rules require it. To show every network in its own brand colors, turn on Use brand colors in the Design tab. It's one click either way.

Step 4 · Publish and add it to your store

In the Visibility card, click Publish. Then add it to your store in the theme editor.

  1. In Shopify, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
  2. Open the page you want. You can add social links to your home page, product pages, collection pages or other pages, such as the end of your home page.
  3. Click Add block (in some themes, Add section), then Apps, and pick Nudgesmart widget.
  4. Choose your social links in the block's Widget setting.
  5. Click Save.

You can also click Add to store in Nudgesmart to open the theme editor on the right page. It suggests a spot: Below the product on product pages.

Tips

  • Put them near the end of a page. Most people scroll to the bottom of a page to find a store's social profiles, so the end of your home page is a good place.
  • Only add profiles you keep up. A link to an account that hasn't posted in a year can make your store look quiet too.
  • Check your theme's own social settings. Many themes already show their own social icons in the footer. If yours does and you add social links near the end of a page, turn the theme's icons off so shoppers don't see two sets close together.

Common pitfalls

  • I clicked Publish and it didn't publish. Nudgesmart opens the Settings section and shows what's missing. Tick at least one network, add your username for it, then click Publish again.
  • I can't add the block to my header or footer. Social links don't work in the header or footer. Add them to the end of your home page, or to a product, collection or other page, instead.
  • A link opens the wrong profile. Check the username in the Settings section, then click Save & publish.
